Fruitful Vine Focus: Marijuana Part 5

This week’s focus is marijuana and the impact of recreational use particularly by individuals that are under the age of 25. Some people who smoke pot believe that they can think more clearly and function more optimally while they are high. However, research reveals that using marijuana creates a euphoric feeling that causes a person to experience things more positively, even though their actual performance is not as competent as their sober presentation.

Have you ever heard a knock on the door and, as you look through the peephole, you notice that a police officer wants to talk to you? Notifications of an accident must be one of the most difficult parts of an officer’s job. Many times those notifications are life-altering. Due to the previously mentioned impact of marijuana on a person’s perception of their functionality, some individuals think they can drive while high without the loss of driving abilities. The truth is this: Individuals who are intoxicated on marijuana are 3 to 7 times more likely to be the cause of the accident as compared to sober drivers.

Make sure your family members are aware of the real dangers of this gateway drug.
